Our editorial promise. We publish only what we can support with public, attributable sources. When a detail cannot be verified with confidence, we either leave it out, qualify it clearly, or explain the uncertainty in the page.
Sourcing Methodology
Each page begins with source collection. For celebrity profiles and cemetery guides, we prioritize official cemetery pages, cemetery maps, government records, public archives, museum or foundation materials, reputable biographies, newspaper archives, Library of Congress records, Wikimedia Commons source pages, and directly inspectable image evidence.
We avoid building factual claims from unsourced social posts, image search results, Pinterest boards, AI-generated summaries, or scraper pages. User-contributed cemetery databases may be used as discovery leads, but they are not treated as final authority unless a claim can be confirmed elsewhere.
Fact Checking Process
Before publication, factual claims are checked for names, dates, cemetery locations, memorial materials, inscription details, design features, and historical context. We look for agreement between at least two independent public sources whenever the claim is central to the page.
Design observations are checked against photographs, cemetery descriptions, and the visible memorial itself. Commercial bridge sections are reviewed separately to make sure they discuss design characteristics only and do not suggest celebrity endorsement or affiliation.
Image Licensing Policy
We use images only when the license allows publication in this archive. Accepted image licenses are Public Domain, CC0, and CC BY. CC BY images must include visible attribution with the creator name, license name, license link, and source link.
We do not use CC BY-SA, CC BY-NC, CC BY-ND, copyrighted stock images without a license, Find A Grave images, Pinterest images, or photos copied from Google Images. If an image license is unclear, missing, or more restrictive than our policy allows, we do not publish it.
Rights and Non-Endorsement
Celebrity and historical-person pages are written as factual, editorial analysis. They do not state or imply that the person, family, estate, cemetery, foundation, photographer, or rights holder endorses Haven Casket & Monument.
Pages that discuss a public memorial may include commercial links to relevant Haven monument pages, but those links are based only on memorial design features such as material, shape, lettering, carving style, or era. We do not use names, likenesses, or memorials as endorsements.
Editorial Independence
The archive is produced by Haven Casket & Monument, a memorial and monument provider. Editorial selections are based on public interest, design value, historical significance, and usefulness to families researching memorial ideas.
No celebrity, estate, cemetery, or third party pays for inclusion in the archive. If a page contains a link to a Haven product or service page, the surrounding copy must make the commercial context clear and keep editorial analysis separate from sales language.
Updates and Corrections
Pages are reviewed at least once per calendar year. We also update pages when a reader flags a possible error, when a source changes, when better public documentation becomes available, or when an image license needs replacement.
Minor corrections, such as spelling or formatting changes, may be made silently. Substantive corrections that affect the meaning of a page are reflected in the page copy or review date where appropriate.
Author and Review Standards
Editorial contributors are expected to write in plain language, separate observation from interpretation, avoid unsupported claims, and preserve the dignity of the people and families connected to each memorial.
Author biographies may include relevant experience in memorial design, funeral-industry content, history, research, or cultural writing. Reviewers check for factual accuracy, image attribution, legal-risk language, and clear separation between editorial and commercial content.
Reader Feedback
If you believe a page contains an error, missing attribution, outdated source, or unclear licensing detail, please contact Haven Casket & Monument with the page URL and the source you would like us to review.
We review correction requests in good faith and update the page when the available evidence supports a change.
